Well, aren't I glad I decided to go to bed early last night. DECIDED to, but didn't actually. Got absorbed into the blogging, and by the time I set the coffee, checked the kids and remembered to brush my teeth, it was 1145. Nice try, better luck next time.
I was awakened first at 3:00 am by a seemingly hungry baby boy who, in all reality, just wanted to make sure that his beloved boob hadn't left him. Then again at 5:30, hes decided hey, who needs sleep anyway? I rolled over and looked out the window and thought to myself, "if im lucky, it only seems dark outside because its a gloomy day." To my dismay, I look at the clock and sure enough, 5:37 appeared in bright cheery green. Bright and cheery my ass. I tried desperately to nurse the evil child back to sleep. Nope, not gonna work. He just wants nothing more than to bulldoze all over me. Ok, might as well get up, perhaps the coffee is still warm from when hubby got up at 3:30. Fat chance.
I dont care what they say, microwaved coffee just doesnt cut it. Dump out the remaining coffee, fill up the maker, set it and drag my sleepy self to the couch. How about some news? nope, benny decides to change the channel. FABULOUS. Ive not even had my coffee yet and hes screaming along to the four-tones which just might happen to be the worlds most irritating show, only produced to ingrain the most aggravating and mind numbing songs into even the most patient parents. Eternity goes by, finally I hear the most wonderful sound. The beeping of the Finished Coffee. ahhhh. Smoke time. Yes I smoke, wanna fight about it?
I just love the way that Benny is awake before Emma. I love the way that she sleeps till 8:00 religiously, sometimes later. I love the way that by the time Benny is getting so pooped out from his early wake up, Emma is just kickin into high gear. Ive heard of the witching hour, but ours seems to last all day. One up, One down, possible overlap, one down, one up. I didn't need to leave the house today right? Its ok, I haven't showered lately anyhow. Its almost comedic how on the days that the kids DO end up synchronizing their naps, Im so smitten with delight that I cant even bring myself to lay down. Instead I end up doing menial jobs like sorting laundry, paying bills, or surfing the internight wildly for things that I normally wouldnt give 2 S*&Ts about, but hey, the kids are sleeping! One day I will learn my lesson, I HOPE!!
Oh, and the most wonderful thing of all. The kids and I have had an awful cold for the past week, and nothing says Hey mommy Im awake! Like the feeling of green boogers being slimed all down my cheek as my happy baby boy nuzzles me awake.
Only a mommy would be able to smile thru THAT type of torture!
